two years at Landmark. During this time, in addition to continuing coursework, selected students have the opportunity to do internships or to take college courses. In order to graduate from Landmark students must:Present (and pass) eight required Portfolios to a
graduation committee;

What is a Portfolio and why do we do them?
At Landmark, a Portfolio is a collection of unique, high-quality work that demonstrates your knowledge and skills in a certain area. There are nine Portfolios:
Arts andMedia Autobiography Health and Fitness Language Other than English New York Experience
- Literature
- Math
- Science
- Social Science
We do Portfolios at Landmark because we believe that they
challenge you to really think about what you’ve learned.What is Advisory and what is its purpose?
What do we do during Advisory time?An Advisory consists of one Landmark teacher (called the Advisor) and a group of Landmark students (called the Advisees). These students will stay with the same Advisor for the first two years. When they graduate to Senior Institute, students will be regrouped into new Advisories in which they will stay for the last two years.
The purpose of Advisory is for students to form relationships with other students and their Advisor. It is a time during which students can talk about school and social issues as well as their academic progress. Advisors will know the strengths,
weaknesses, and concerns of each of their Advisees and will help act as a mediator among the students, the school, their teachers, and their parents. The goal, of course, is to help the student feel confident and be successful.Advisory time is spent doing team-building activities, working on Portfolios, visiting cultural institutions, discussing important issues in the students’ lives, discussing academics, and working on various interpersonal or academic skills.
