Weekly News Updates concerning Landmark HS

Dear Students and Families,
Happy Mother’s Day to all the mothers and caregivers in our community—we’re so thankful for all the ways you support your children and our school.
This week, we’re keeping the focus on academics. Congratulations to all the students who have already completed their AP exams! This week, we have three more AP exams—in Spanish, Psychology, and Seminar. English Language Learners will also be taking the NYSESLAT exam, which is required for all multilingual students. We’re proud of your hard work and encourage everyone taking exams this week to stay focused and do your best.
On Tuesday afternoon, students working on PBATs will get coaching on their papers—final drafts are due May 27, so use this time well. Students who are not completing PBATs will enjoy a movie together period 6 and 7. Congratulations to Alexandria's advisory for having the highest daily attendance and earning the chance to choose the movie!
On Thursday evening, teachers have time set aside to call families. We’ll be focusing on conversations about concerns about academic progress or possible need for summer school. If you’d like to have a conversation about how things are going for any reason - even if your student isn’t struggling academically - reach out to your child’s advisor or our Parent Coordinator, Isa Jimenez (ijimenezvazquez@schools.nyc.gov), and we’ll make sure someone follows up with you.
Also, a reminder that Monday is Optical Academy! All students can get a free vision screening and glasses. Even if you already wear glasses, it’s a great opportunity to get an updated prescription or a back-up pair.
And a big thank-you to the PTA for the lovely Staff Appreciation Breakfast last week—it meant a lot to our team.
Let’s all stay focused and finish the year strong!
Best, Susanna
