Weekly News Updates concerning Landmark HS

Dear Landmark students and families,
I hope everyone enjoyed the long weekend. Today we recognize Indigenous Peoples’ Day - a time to honor the past, present, and future of Indigenous peoples across the Americas. It is a day to recognize the rich cultures and significant contributions of Native communities and to acknowledge the painful history of colonialism and its ongoing impacts. New York City occupies the ancestral homeland of the Lenape people, whose descendants and other Native communities continue to live and thrive here today.
Next week we will be off on Monday for Diwali, the Festival of Lights celebrated by Hindus, Jains and Sikhs around the world.Â
It was a bummer to have to cancel Field Day because of the rain, but we’re already looking forward to planning a fun indoor competition and celebration soon - and to getting back outside for a spring Field Day when the weather’s on our side. If you’d like to help plan, see Alyssa, Jon, or Nas, or a member of the leadership class. Thank you to the Gender and Sexuality Alliance (GSA) for recognizing National Coming Out Day on Friday, and to everyone who brings their full selves to our community and celebrates everyone for who they are.
Take care and have a great week. Susanna
